There are a bunch of phrases and discussions throughout that describe my own thoughts and experiences better than I ever could, and while I don't agree with how strongly or extensively Chen asserts a social constructivist analysis of sexuality, I do generally agree with most of her broader points. I believe it provides a positive and accurate representation of asexuality in a way that's relatable to everyone, not just aces.

It was relatable, it presented complex ideas in easily-digestible language, and it presented diverse experiences of asexuality in a way that focused on common threads (thought processes and internal experiences) while leaving room for individual expression. Chen’s careful cultural analysis explores how societal norms limit understanding of sex and relationships and celebrates the breadth of sexuality and queerness.First things first: I loved this book. Through a blend of reporting, cultural criticism, and memoir, Ace addresses the misconceptions around the “A” of LGBTQIA and invites everyone to rethink pleasure and intimacy. What exactly is sexual attraction and what is it like to go through life not experiencing it? What does asexuality reveal about gender roles, about romance and consent, and the pressures of society?
